Our Mission

The Center for Technological Innovations is dedicated to advancing research and policy at the intersection of technology and finance. We aim to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and inclusivity of technological adoption through financial innovation; assess strategic investments and industrial policies that support critical technologies and emerging sectors; and examine the regulatory, economic, and social risks associated with technological development to promote responsible innovation and long-term market stability.

Work Focus

01

Technological Finance:

We study how financial tools—such as venture capital, industrial policy, and public markets—can accelerate the development and scaling of critical technologies. Our research focuses on optimizing financial mechanisms to support early-stage innovation, scale-up of emerging technologies, and long-term ecosystem development across sectors.

02

Artificial Intelligence and Financial Innovation:

We explore how AI enhances financial services—from trading to risk management—while addressing transparency, ethics, and regulatory risks. Collaborating with industry, we test AI models on real-world data to promote responsible and effective adoption.

03

Blockchain and Decentralized Finance (DeFi):

We study how blockchain is reshaping financial systems through decentralized finance, asset tokenization, and smart contracts. Our work focuses on market design, regulatory frameworks, and real-world applications across capital markets and supply chains.

04

Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and Digital Payments:

We analyze the design, impact, and policy implications of CBDCs and emerging digital payment systems. Key areas include financial inclusion, monetary policy, cross-border integration, and systemic risk management.

05

Data Economics and Market Design:

We examine how data can be treated as an economic asset—priced, governed, and exchanged. Our research supports the design of data-sharing incentives, marketplaces, and privacy-preserving infrastructures that reduce information asymmetry.

06

Technology Innovation and Commercialization:

We study how financial markets, industrial policy, and entrepreneurial ecosystems can accelerate the development and commercialization of breakthrough technologies. This includes identifying barriers to scale, analyzing tech transfer mechanisms, and exploring how capital, talent, and policy align to turn research innovations into impactful real-world applications.
