Brief Introduction

Hong Kong, with its strategic location and strong financial infrastructure, serves as a vital bridge between mainland China and global capital markets. As wealth in the region expands rapidly, the Center for Wealth Management aims to provide thought leadership and rigorous research to support the evolving needs of asset managers, institutional investors, family offices, and policymakers.

Our Mission

The Center is dedicated to advancing research and innovation in wealth management through three core areas: analyzing the impact of quantitative investment on markets and regulation; exploring the growth and structure of private wealth and family office ecosystems; and studying the design and distribution of pension and insurance products to support long-term financial security in an aging society.

Work Focus

01

Quantitative Investment and Market Efficiency:

We study how quantitative strategies—driven by data, algorithms, and machine learning—affect market efficiency, liquidity, volatility, and regulatory oversight. Our work also explores how these strategies contribute to innovation in portfolio construction and risk management.

02

Family Offices and Private Wealth:

We examine the rapid rise of family offices and the transformation of private wealth management in Asia. Research focuses on governance structures, succession planning, cross-border tax and regulatory issues, and the evolving investment preferences of ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

03

Retirement Solutions and Aging Demographics:

We analyze the structure and effectiveness of pension and insurance products in meeting the long-term savings needs of aging populations. Our research supports the design of sustainable, inclusive retirement systems and the development of innovative annuity and life insurance offerings.

04

Cross-Border Asset Management:

We explore how Hong Kong can serve as a global wealth hub by facilitating cross-border capital flows, regulatory harmonization, and investor access between mainland China and international markets. Special attention is given to fund passporting, tax treaties, and legal frameworks.

05

Digital Wealth Management and Fintech Integration:

We investigate the digital transformation of wealth management, including robo-advisory platforms, blockchain-based asset services, and AI-powered financial planning tools. Our research evaluates their impact on financial inclusion, client engagement, and regulatory compliance.

06

ESG and Impact Investing:

We study how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are integrated into wealth management strategies. This includes analyzing investor demand for sustainable products, the role of asset managers in driving corporate accountability, and the development of ESG metrics and reporting standards.
